Later in the day, feeling a little remorse for having treated his pat so [ harshly, he went to see how he fared, and i if he had really killed him outright. Now, • he had pitched the poor bird into an outi ) house containing twelve prize Dorking [ hens. Judge of his surprise then when, on i opening the door, he found eleven Dork- , ings dead on the floor and the parrot juat t wringing the neok of the twelfth one, and . loudly exclaiming, " Say uncle, you devil, . eaj uncle!"
