Late Abbival.— A large shipment of figs, fruits, &c, whioh should have reached Kincaid's G.I.C. in time for their Christmas trade, have only just arrived. As the season is over, they have reduced the price to 6d per lb.— [Advt.] A Fibbmen's Row. — At Timaru yesterday the Besident Magistrate heard a complaint made by a fireman of the s.s. Nairnshire, a Syrian named Sam M'Fuseo, against one of hiß mates, John Brown, whom he charged with assaulting him at midnight on Saturday. The two men got into an altercation and there was a challenge to fight, each declaring that the other gave it. As they went up to the forecastle head for the fight complainant was first, and as the other ascended the ladder tho complainant struck him a violent blow— accused said it was a deliberate kick. Several men then set on the Syiian for his unfairness, and chased him into the saloon, where accused kicked him unmercifully and aerioußly injuaed him. The chief engineer, who had been called, pulled the accused off. Next morning the complainant was sent to the hospital, but as the steamer has a dcctor on board he will go with the vessel. The Magistrate fined accused .£3,, and £\ 12a expenses; in default, a month's imprisonment. Accused refused to pay the five, and was sen* to gaol. Why do you toil ou without SAPOLIO.
