♦ [Pfcja Pbess Association.] DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. Eberh.rd Etifner and Richard Dobson rere to-day committed for trial on a charge I maliciously stabbing Charles Ashton at outh Dunedin on Christmas eve. The Hon J. G. Ward arrived from the orth to-night, and remains here for a ay oy two. The position of inspector of telegraphs l Otago, rendered vacant by the prolotion of Mr Logan, lies between Mr reenaway (Ati.kland) and Mr Orcheston kelson). The Minister will not make an ppointment tilljhe returns to Wellington.
