City Guards and Christchurch Rifles.

The annual general meeting of the Christchurch City Guards and Christchurch Rifles was held last evening. There were present— Captain Massey (in the chair), Lieutenants Cresswell and Sandford and forty-five members. An apology was received for the absence of Lieutenant Baker. Tho balance-sheet of the City Guards showed receipts -245 13a ld, expenditure £39 lis 6d, leaving a balance in hand of £6 ls 7d. The balance-sheet of the Chrißtchurch Rifles showed receipts £130 12s 3£d, expenditure £12G 12s OH, leaving a credit balance of £4, Oa 3d. The following were elected to serve on the various committees : — Finance, the officers with Sergeant Foster and Corporal Butcher,- Shooting, the officers, with Sergeants Wakelin, Ward and Whitmore, Corporals Jeffreys, Murphy and Butcher, Privates Batchelor and Hooper ; custodian of ammunition, Corporal Murphy, custodians of uniforms, Corporal Jeffreys and Private Munday ; custodian of arms, Serjeant Whitmore and Lance-Corporal Murphy; auditors, Colour - Sergeants Steer and Bishop ; delegates to Range Committee, Li. utetiants Biker and Cressfvell, Corporal Butcher and Lance-Corporal Murphy; honorary secretary and treasurer, Private Batchelor. Subject to the receipt of capitation, the following votes vere made :— £3 3s to the Garrison Band, 625 to Shooting Committee, and £2 2s to he ex-s icrefcary, Sergeant Foster. Captain ftassey, in a few well-chosen words, bade arewell to the corps, and expressed regret ,t severing hi 3 connection with volunteerog after twenty-one years' service. The aeeting then terminated.
