The meeting of the Sydenham Borough Council, for the installation of the mayor, lapsed for want of a quorum, and waß adjourned till 5 o'clock to-morrow evening. [Pee Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND. Dec. 20. The installation of Mr J. J. Holland as mayor of Anckland took place at noon. The retiring mayor, Mr Crowther, was presented with a handsome silver service and banqueted. NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 20. Mr J. B. Roz was, at noou to-day, installed as Mayor of New Plymouth. DUNEDIN, Dec. 20. At the installation, the Mayor made pointed reference to the Socialistic legislation of the Ministry. Mr Fish urged combination among the ratepayers to prevent an extension of the franchise in the j direction of one man one vote municii pally * =====
