'< The annual meeting of the Linwood Borough Council waa held to-day at noon ; present — The Mayor (Mr J. C. Atkinson), [ Councillors Pentecoat,Board, Joseph Taylor, ' Duncan, Marriott, Horßley and the Mayorelect (Mr J. R. Brunt). Mr Atkinson, the retiring mayor, after thanking the councillors for their support in the past, installed Mr Brunt in the mayoral chair. Mr Brunt spoke, briefly promising to do his best to further the interests of the I borough. The councillors congratulated Mr Brunt on his election. It wa3 resolved to give the employes holidays on Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1. Councillor Joseph Taylor was e'ected as a member of the Finance Committee, Councillor Marshall being elected chairman in place of the newly-elected mayor. The .meeting then terminated.
