Bands' Association.

* The executive of the New Zealand Brass Association held a meet ing on Saturday evening; presentMessrs E. T. Searell (in the chair), Hughes, Gordon, Painter and W. Maneell (Hon Secretary). Correspondence was dealt with from Lieutenant Towzel (Senior Battalion, Jdelbourne), Blijff imniCity GuarcU (InverCfttgi ll }. JfW™ Besson, Higham and Wright ana Bound (England) and R. Herd (Wellington). The question of establishing an official record of all past band > contests was discussed, and on the motion of Mr Searell, the Secretary waa directed to write to affiliated band-?, asking what support would be given. Copie3 of the Australian Bandsman's Journal were ordered to be forwarded to each band, with a request to subscribe thereto. Lieutenant Towzel, Melbourne, wrote regarding the formation of a Bandsmen's Institute, and on the motion of Mr Hughes, copies of the New Zealand Association's rules and all necessary data were ordered to be forwarded. The request of the City Guards Band, Invercargill, for information regarding the election of judge waa not entertained. Rule 1 (Clause 3) was to be strictly enforced after Jan. 5, 1894. It was stated in regard to the vacant-seats on the Committee that the Chriatchurch bands should nominate candidates, the election to take place at the next ordinary meeting. Routine business was dealt with and the meeting j closed.
