It is stated that there is a probability of the Bey J. O'Brien Hoare becoming a candidate for one of the Christchurch seats. Mr W. N. Cathro, solicitor, Bangiora, has been asked to become a candidate for the Kaiapoi seat. He has taken time to consider before giving an answer. A meeting of the friends and supporters of the Hon W. P. Beeves will be held in Hobbs' Buildings at 8 p.m. to-morrow. Mr Beeves will deliver a short speech, and a Committee will be formed. Ladies are specially invited. Mr D. Buddo of Fernside, announces his candidature for the Kaiapoi district in the Liberal interest. A meeting of the friends and supporters of JMr W. W. Tanner, a candidate for the Avon electorate, will be held this evening at the social hall of the Congregational Church, Ferry road, for the purpose of forming a Committee. The Begistrars of Christchurch, Biccarton and Avon accepted yesterday 500 claims for votes. The main roll is still being worked upon, and will shortly be issued. It is estimated that it will contain 12,000 names.
