Employers' Liability Act.
Mr John Grigg recently issued the following notice :—■" To all the Workmen on Longbeach.— ln consequence of the Employers' Liability Act it has been necessary for me to effect an Accident Insurance covering all the men that I employ. This I bare done on, such advantageous terms that by the payment by each man of fivepence per week he will j secure .£SOO in case of death by accident ; in case of disablement, fall compensation, not to exceed JESOO; in case of partial injuries, full wages as. long as he is off work. I have also included in the policy, that, in case of temporary total disablement during working hours one half the weekly wage* for accidents outside the said Act for a period not exceeding sixteen weeks will be paid. For each man singly to have secured all thqge advantages it would have cost him one shilling and elevenpence per week, whereas I shall retain from your wages only fivepence per week for every man earning 25s per week, and a like proportion for those earning more or less." We have been asked by. the workmen to publish this, with which they are satisfied, j the arrangement -being favourable to them.
