LYTTELTON ROWING CLUB.

« , Annual Meeting. The . annual general meeting of tb& Lyttelton Rowing Club wbb held on Wednesday evening, when there was a good attendance of members. The Presisident of the Club, Mr T. L. Smith, occupied the chair. Mr C. Aechman, the Hon Secretaryread the Committee's report, which congratulated members on the eminently satisfactory position attained by ,tho. Club's crews at the various regattas of the past oeaeon, but stated that thoro were several matters in connection with the internal economy of the Club, which left much to be desired. The Club had been represented at the four Canterbury regattas, scoring wins at each, including the Championship Four?, which was won by Messrs W. Harkiss, A. Aschman, J. Pageand D.Page.andtbeCominitteewißhed to place on record its highest commendation, so thoroughly deserved by the members of this crew for their efforts on behalf of the Club. The best thanks of the Club wore aIBO due to all other members who had competed at regattas. The racing plantwas reported to be in good condition, but the want* of a practice four was very severely felt, and the incoming Committee would have to face the matter of procuring such a boat for use during the coming season. Tho report was adopted. Mr E. Holßt, Honorary Treasurer, submitted the balance-sheet, which showed the total receipts for th 9 Beason to be .£l7l 17s, and the expenditure JBIEO 9s 3d, leaving a credit balance of .£2l 7s 3d. The following new members were elected : — Messrs D. Jack, G. Rich, F. Wylie, G. Pitcaithley, J. Woodbery, A. Sadler, K. Tayler, J. O'Neil, — Moore, A. Hoist, and J. Pilder. The election of officers resulted as follows :— President, Mr T. L. Smith (reelected)} Vice-Pre3idents, Mr J. Joyce, M.H.R., Captain Willis, Messrs A. M'Williama, N. C. Schumacher and S. W. Mitchell , Mr J. E. Galbraith, Captain; Mr F. Page, Deputy-Captain; Mr C. Aschman, Hon Secretary (re-elected); Mr E. Hoist, Hon, Treasurer (re-elected) ; General Committee, Messrs G. A. Lewin., R. Wyllie, W. Harkiss, D. Jack, and A. Bateß. Racing Committee, Captain, Deputy Captain, Messrs T. L. Smith and G. A. Lewin; Auditors, Messrs J. Webb and J. Weastell; Delegate to New Zealand Rowing AoEociation, Mr N. Galbraith. On the motion of Mr Lewin, seconded Ly Mr F. Page, it was decided to post a list or" financial members in the boatshed, such list to be added to at intervals as subscriptions were paid. It, was also resolved to affiliate with the Athletic Clubs' Protection Association. The matter of arranging for a formal opening was left in the handß of the -Committee to make final arrangements. After passing a hearty vote ' of thanks to the retiring officers and Committee, the meeting reßolved itßelf into a convivial gathering. Light refreshments were partaken of and the toasts of "Success to the Coming Season," " Our President," •• The Champion Four," " Vice-Presidentß," "Visitors" and "Retiring Officers" were duly honoured. During the evening the President presented to the members of the champion crew a rowing costume from Mr J. Palmer of Oxford street. Several capital songs were contributed.
