Mistaken Identity. [Per Pbess Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 5. In the Supremo Court, Corkin, who pleaded " Guilty " to horse stealing near Hawera, was sentenced to a year's imprisonment. William Francis Sealey, charged with cattle etealing, was found guilty, and sentence was deferred. Robert Cecil Adamß was charged with forging a cheque on June 17, and passing the Bame on Marsh, & storekeeper at Normanby. Accused pleaded "Not guilty." Marsh, Hunter and Williamson gave evidence for the prosecution, swearing that Adams was the man who passed the cheque. For the defence, Charles Hewitt, a farmer, living near Levin, about a hundred milo3 from Normanby, swore that accused had been employed on his farm since May 23, and stayed with hip till the day of his arrest, never leaving the place for a single day. He Baid that accused was not a friend of his, and witness came forward in the interest of -justice to give evidence. The -Jury, without retiring, returned a verdict of "Not Guilty." Albert Young, Murdoch M'Lean and John M'Lean pleaded "Guilty" ho a charge of catile stealing, and sentenced was deferred. John Devonport, charged with breaking into the Inglewood Hotel and carrying away money, pleaded " Guilty," and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard labour^
