Ferry Road.

The ordinary meeting of the Ferry road School Committee was held on Monday evening ; present — Mr Donglass (Chairman), Messrs Anderson, Edkiflß, Ewart, Gimblett.M'Diarmid, and Eichardaon. The following letter was received from the Secretary of the Board of Education: — "Sir,—! have the honour, by direction o£ the Board, to forward herewith the Inspector's examination report on your school with the standard lists attached. The report ib a very good one, and, i especially in the unfavourable circumstances, must be considered highly creditable to the bead master and his staff." The head master and 'teachers were complimented upon the highly satisfactory report of the examiners. The Board had also forwarded to the school specimens of cocoa in several stages of manufacture with a book of explanations for the purpose of object lessons. Sundry repairs to the school were authorised. It was announced that the Bq^d would see if arrangements could be made for the services of an artillery officer to drill the children. It, was decided to ask the Board of Education >to change the name of the school and district from Ferry road to Woolston Borough School and district. The head master reported the illness of Miss Glanville, and Mies O'Callahan, and asked to be allowed to substitute a brief history by Nelson in lieu of Gardner's, which request was granted, subject to the Board's approval. The average attendance for the last month was 510 out of a roll number of 577. It was decided to hold a concert for the prize fund. After passing accounts to the amount of JSII 13s sd, leaving a cash balance of £3 03 Id, the meeting terminated
