AUCKLAND, Oct. 4. The Auckland rifle team left by tbe Tarawera to compete at the New South Wales championship meeting. REMANDED. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. Kirk was before the Court this afternoon on a charge of fraudulent bankruptcy, and remanded for a week. Bail was allowed, himself in iSBO and two sureties of a similar amount. AN ORGANIST. Mr Webb, organist at Rockhampton Cathedral, Queensland, haa accepted the appointment of ' organist to St Anglican ChuTch, Wellington. THE NELSON TOWN SCHOOL. NELSON, Oct.' 4. The Education Board has, on the recommendation of the Town Committee, appointed Mr Gibbs, H.A., head master of the town school.
Madras Steeet Bridge.— -The bridge acroaa the Avon afc Madraß Btreet is closed at present, as ibis undergoing much-needed repair. The City Council workmen were busy yeatsrday removing the flooring, which was very much worn, preparatory to redecking tho structure.
