WELLINGTON v. HAWKE'S BAY.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. The match between Wellington and Hawke's Bay came off this afternoon at Petone. It rained just before the start, and only a few hundred people were present. The ground was slippery, but not sodden. The Hawke's Bay t?am was known to be weak, but the forwards did very well for the first hour, and held their own. Wellington in that time scored twice, and Baumber kicked a goal from one of the tries. Hawko'a Bay secured a number of free kicks, principally through M'JEenzie's off-side play, and had several shots at goal, but nose took effect. Towards the end the visitors fell to pieces. Two more tries were scored, and Baumber was allowed to pot a goal, though he might have been easily stopped. The game thua ended in WeUington scoring fifteen to nil.

DONEDIN, Sept. 2. A team from the Albion Club, Christchurch, played the Pacific Second on Saturday, and was defeated by four points to two. CHRIST'S COLLEGE v. OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL. Sept 3. The annual match betwean Christ's College and the Otigo High School was played on the Caledonian ground, in the presence of a fair number of spectators, and resulted in a win for the High School by tea points to five.
