WOBKS COM_ir__BE, The Works Committee reported in reference to the letter from the Suivey Department, stating that the railway reserve through Beserve No. 2379 was originally laid off a_ Buoh, that the Committee could find- no record to show that the' reserve was originally intended for-the extension of the road from Lyndhurst to Methven. It was that the bath caretaker's salary should be increased 6s per week for the remainder of the season. The late gale having blown down a portion of the brick wall at the swimming bath, the same had been re-built double the original thickness at a cost of £18 3s°6d. It was recommended tbat the crossing over the -South belt on the west side of Barbadoes -etreet should be asphalted at a cost of £9, •the borough to pay half the cost if the City Council would pay the remainder. In reference-to Barrie street, the Committee recommended that the necessary steps should be taken to make it a public street. 'The report was adopted.
• THE COUNCIL'S STAPH.
■Some discussion took place as to whether the report of the Committee to consider the reorganisation of the Council's staff, which was . not reached at the previous meeting of the Council, could be brought up that evening. The Mayor ruled that fresh notice would have to be given, and there beiue no other business the meeting, terminated.
