[Per Pbkss Association. J WELLINGTON, Fra. 28. At the Beßident Magistrate's Court, James Grainge was charged with shooting Theophiluß George in the shoulder. The prisoner had been looked upon aa the prosecutor's step-son, but, in evidence, George Baid he had been living with Mrs Grainge aa man and wife eighteen years. According to his statement he had quarrelled with her, and was smashing the houße with an axe, which he held in an attitude threatening Mrs Grainge, when the prisoner fired a revolver and hit himin his shoulder. He afterwards fired again, missing him; There had been a straggle before, in which he got a rib broken. The wound was not dangerous, but it kept the prosecutor in the Hospital three weeks. The first annual meeting of the Rugby; Union is called for April 22, at Wellington. The affiliated Unions have already been requested to hold their meetings and consider the beat mewts for selecting a team for. Australia. . , • . .
