MESSES ANDEEWS AND BEAVEN.
The employees of Messrs Andrews and Beaven held their annual picnio at Bligh's Gardens on Friday, leaving town by special tram a,t - 8.80 a.m.' Tho w6ather proved unfavourable, as _ .rain fell during; the greater part of the afternoon, but did not mar the enjoyment of thoße present, as the proprietor, Mr J. Prince, had kindly set apart a room for the picnickers, and here songs were given and games freely indulged in. The catering was all that could be desired, and a vote, of thanks was passed to Mr Prince; The following are the results of the race a :— l2oyds Single Men's Handicap— F. Woodham 1, W. Gahagan 2, H. Hobbs 3. 100 yds Married Men'e Handicap— E. Baddon 1, W. Hancock 2, F. Sawtell 3. Sack Bace, 60yds— Gahagan 1, Hurst 2. Three-legged Bace, 60yds — Gahagan and Carr 1, Hobbs and Woodham 2. Married Women's Handicap, 50yds— Mra Baddon 1, Mrs Munns 2. Single Women's Handicap, 50yds — Miss Luoy Eent 1, Mies Philpott 2, A cricket match Married v. Single was won by the latter, D. W. Simpson scoring the most for the winners.'
