(Before G. Laurenson, Esq.) Disobedience of Lawful Commands. —Henry Hall, a seaman on hoard the ship Hinemoa> was charged by Captain De Steiger with continued wilful disobedience of lawful commands. The charge having been proved, defendant waa sent to gaol for ten dayß. Assault.—Edward Warren, boatswain o! the ship Kensington, waa charged with .'assaulting James Green, the chief officer o£ the vessel. Mr Nalder appeared to prosecute. The evidence of the captain and the chief officer, Captain Milne and Mr J. Green, waa to the effect that defendant had left the ship on Monday, and had not returned till 5 p.m. on Wednesday. TJpon the chief officer speaking to accused about his conduct, accußed struck the officer on the ear. Accused said he had struck the officer be* cauße he (the officer) had said that when the vessel waa in Capetown he (accused) had been away from the ship without leave, which was untrue. He was sent to gaol for two months with hard labour.
