The Otaki Floods.

» [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. The recent floods in the Otaki are the worat experienced during the last twenty* five years. They are attributed to the strong westerly winds causing a high tide, and thus blocking the flood water. Considerable damage has been, done to pro* perby, but no lives have been lost. Several settlers lost a number of Bheep, pigs, &c. The house, from which the residents were rescued, was built in the bed of the olr river-course, and had three feet of wated in it. '•''•■
