Pirates Football Club.

The first annual general meeting of the members of the Pirates Football Club waß held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Addington, laet night. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr W. J. Alpe, Vice-president (in the absence of the President) occupied the chair. Mr A. B. Menzies, Hon Secretary, read the annual report, which congratulated the members on the success that had attended the first Beaaon'a efforts. The Club started with a membership of eighteen,* and it had at present a membership of eighty-seven. Regret was expressed at the loss the Club had sustained through the death of Mr D. A. Duncan, who had taken a prominent part in its affairs since its formation. The first fifteen succeeded in winning the Cup presented by the President of the Canterbury Rugby Union. The team won twelve matches, drew one and lost one. The second fifteen played seven matches, winning three and losing four. In conclueion, the Committee recommended the incoming Committee to favourably consider the adviaableness of procuring an extra ground and training shed. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have amounted to J824 16s 9d, and the expenditure to .622 17s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £1 19s Id. The assets were valued at .£l9 4s 7d, and there were no liabilities. On the motion of Mr C. Whifcty, seconded by Mr J. W.Rodger, the report and balance - sheet were unanimously adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows i -Patron, Mr M. Lewin ; President, Mr W. J. Alpe; Vice-Presidents, Messrs H. Hearfield, G. H. Elliott, S. Knight, W. J. Larcombe, E. J. Whiting, J. A. Clarke and the Rev W. Bean ; Honorary Secretary, Mr A. B. Menzies (reflected) ; Honorary Treasurer, Mr J. Crummy; General Committee, Messrs A. Beck, W. Thompson, J. D. Taylor, A. Hooper and E. Simpson. Messrs A. B. Menzieß, J. Crummy, J. Taylor, A. Beck and A. Hooper were appointed a Sub-Committee to revise the rules, and report to a general ! meeting of members. It was decided to leave the election of captain until the Selection Committee had been elected. Mr W. J. Larcombo was appointed delegate to the Canterbury Rugby Union. Mr A. B. j Menzies was appointed custodian of the j Club's property. Sixteen new members were elected. The Chairman,, on behalf of the members of the Club, presented Mr F. Shackleton with a handsomely-framed photograph of the Club's first fifteen and the officers of the Club. He said that Mr Shaokleton had played very, consistently in all the matches, and was the best bank in the Mr Shaokleton returned thankg, and after some minor business had beendisposed of. the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
