The Earl op Hopetoun's Visit, — After inspecting the Biccarton herd of stud cattle and the surroundings of the homestead yesterday, Mr Deans drove . the Earl of Hopetoun to BurnBide, where Mr William Boag showed them his splendid stud of Clydesdale lioraee. Thoy then' drove to the Biocarton racecourse, and having inspected that proceeded to the Belfast Freezing Works, which they Baw in. full operation.. The party next visited the old . chow, grounds,, where they witnessed a game of polo, and returned to Coker's Hotel in. the evening. This morning his Excellency paid an unofficial visit to Lyttelton for the purpoee of seeing the dock , and other objects of interest in the port.. In the afternoon Mr Brydone escorted them to the Agricultural College, Lincoln, over which they were shown. To-morrow the Earl and Countess. of Hopetoun will travel by morning train to Horaley Down Station, where they will be the guests of Mr J. D. Lance. From there it is the intention of the Earl to ride overland to Blenheim, via Waiau and Kaikoura. Master Bakeeb' Association. — The Master Bakers' Association met last night at the Shades Hotel.. There was a good attendance, Mr J. Hopper,, the in the chair. A number of letters from the Committee of. the Association to the Ohristchuroh millers were read. In these attention was drawn to tha amount of credit given to persons in the trade who. were carrying on a business at non-paying prices. Beplies had beea/received statiag that the millers would watch the interests of the Bakers' Association in the matter. Mr Bollitt enclosed .£&2 b in his letter as a gift to the Association, and also offered it the use of a room for meetings. The donation and offer were received with thanke. The members present ee&aoiibed amongst them sufficient to foatwagd one ton of flour towards the reliaf of the sufferers by the floods in Queensland* and Mr J. T. Faville was authorised to receive any further subscriptions faom members of the trade not present, tie Committee to seek the earliest opportunity of forwarding the donation.
