Mountain Maid and Wolseley held the lead for five f uilongs, when Wolseley went to the front and maintained Mb advantage the whole way, winning by three lengths ; Jacob Faithful a length behind Frivolity. (Collelo) 3 There waß a good start save that Prime Warden was slow to move and lost several lengths, but Lindsay immediately rushed him to the front, and the Timaru horse led for a mile, with Merganser lying third. Merganser was then taken up, and, shortly having Prime Warden in difficulties, came on and won comfortably by a couple of lengths, Cynisca being the same distance behind the second horse.
