The Mayoralty.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Many ratepayers are under the impresßion that the Mr Thomson who is a candidate for the Mayoralty of Christchurch is the jeweller and late partner in Coates and Co. Kindly inform them that this is not the case. The candidate is a baker.— l am, &c, EATEPAYEE. TO THB EDITOR. Sir, — I was present last night at the Oddfellows' Hall to hear the candidates for the Mayoralty express their views previous to the election day. To my Burprise, and no doubt to the surprise of all present, when Mr Smith was asked whether he was in favour of giving the city employees the Saturday half-holiday he replied that he thought they already had it. Great Scot! and this is the gentle* man who comes forward for Mayor and bases his claim to that high office on his great personal knowledge of the working of the City Council ! After that the deluge and Eden George for me.— l am, &c, EATEPAYEE [No. 2].
