Mr Rusden.
Was thero any doubt about his capacity for making wild statements in a wild manner? The publication of his book removed any that might have existed. The subsequent trial substituted ' a grave doubt as to whether the Eusden mind was capable of profiting by the lesson it had' received. That doubt haa been removed by another publication. One of the wildest and most idiotic statements that could be made about the Kipon decision in the Legislative Council matter, has fallen from the too rampant pen of Mr Eusden. What a pity the man had the mind of an advocate instead of the head of a Judge ! Had he possessed the latter, his history of New Zealand would have been one of the best books extant, and the reputation of its author would not have been subjected to perpetual attacks from within.
