POULTRY SHOW.
THE ASHBURTON SOCI3TY". The inaugural ahow of the Ashburtort Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society was ' opened on Friday in the old Town Hall, when nearly 300 birds were penned id cages hired from the Dunedin Society. The exhibits were far more numerous than the Society expected, and the quality wasvery favoui ably remarked upon. MrM. Donohue heads the prize list with 21 firsts, 11 seconds, 3 thirds and 12 special prizes, and. - is to be complimented tor the excellent condition in which his birds were shown. . Great credit is due to the officers for the manner in which they have worked up the show, sb they had an uphill fight in starting the new Society, and the results ■ are most satisfactory. Ab the detailed prize list will show, the local fanciers have ■ just about held their own, and in some- - caeo3 have beaten birds that have takenprizes elsewhere this season.
