Sunnyside Asylum Annual Picnic.
b Inmates of the Sunnyaide Asylum, to the ) number of about two hundred, had their B annual picnic yesterday. They left the f Asylum about 10.30 in nine large drags, ' 3 and were driven, \ii Halswell and Prebblea ton, to the Eiccarton racecourse, which was ft kindly placed at their disposal by the it Committee o! the Canterbury Jockey Club, y I Arriving there shortly after twelve o'clook, c they obtained shelter from a shower in the Tf j grandstand, and after luncheon indulged in Q ! cricket, rounders and dancing. There n were also races for the men, the priaes tr being pipes, tobacco, &c. Abont 6 p.*n. a

The expense wa 3 comparatively small, as all the provisions [ including sandwiches, tartp, buns, cake; t fruit, &c, were supplied from the Asylum [ Last year the excursion was to Ne» ; Brighton, and the previous year to Litth River by rail from Middleton Btation.
