Linwood Town Board.
An ordinary meeting of the Linwood Town Board was held on Monday, at 7.30 p.m.; present— Commissioners Atkinson, Pentecoßt, Dombrain, Hardie and Brunt. An apology wbb received for the absence of the Chairman through illnese, and also for Commissioner Smith. Commissioner Hardie was voted to the chair. Correspondence was read : — From Commissioner W. J. Alexander, resigning his seat on the Board. Received. From the Returning-Officer, notifying the election of Mr J. R. Brunt to fill the vacancy on the Board. An application for remission of rates was received and not entertained. The Works Committee's report was read, recommending the construction of concrete channels on the East belt between Armagh street and the blind street north of Armagh Btreet, and on the west Bide of Stanmore road between | Tuam and Cashel streets, a footpath 3ft wide to be formed in the latter street. The Committee also recommended that a trial of the Milburn cement be made. The report was adopted. The Finance Committee reported— Receipts Binc'e last meeting, £112 2s lOd ; debtor balance at Bank, £84, Is lOd ; cash in hand, £11 9s lid. Sundry accounts were presented for pay. ment. The accounts for August have been examined and found correct. The report was adopted. The by-laws, as reprinted, were received and referred to the By-law Committee for examination. Commissioner Brunt was appointed to the By-law and the Lighting Committees in place of Commissioner Alexander, resigned. The Clerk applied for, and was granted, leave of absence during the week ending Sept. 26, except on office days. Local Board of Health.— A letter was read from Dr Ovenden in reply to the Board's letter with regard to reporting cases of infectious disease. The Inspector's report was read and adopted, and the meeting terminated.
