NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.

The meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association, for the consideration of the protest made by Mr H. Mace, the owner o£ Bcdale, against the decision of the Canterbury Trotting Club, disqualifying the horse, was held yesterday. There was a full attendance of delegates, the President of the Association, Mr Williams, in the chair. The Chairman said that, having considered the matter very carefully, he must decide that the Association had no jurisdiction in the present case. He quoted Rule 15 in support of his decision. Mr Mace said that before coming to the last meeting he consulted his solicitor, whose opinion was that he had no cause of acticn. The Canterbury Stewards had assured him that they wished no reflection passed on him, and under all the circumstances he would withdraw the protest. A long discussion took place in regard to the affiliation of the Canterbury Metropolitan Plumpton Park Company, some of those present contending that the Company was in nowise a Trotting Club, and could not therefore be joined to the Association. The Chairman ruled that the question could not be reopened, except by a motion on the subject, and Mr Barnes gave notice to move at next meeting — ■' That the resolution passed affiliating the Canterbury Plumpton Park Company be rescinded, as the Association has no power under the rules to affiliate any Company, the power only extending to the affiliation of a duly organised Trotting or Racing Club, which is not shown in the application sent in." It was decided that the annual meeting be held on Tuesday, July 28.
