The Mayor has received no communication from the Mayor of Auckland, bb stated in yesterday's telegrams, re the Kaitangata relief fund. It may, however, be stated that the trustees consider that it would not be possible without legislative enactment for any portion of the funds to be applied to the relief of the Huntley miners. The position was explained at the Mining Conference at the Exhibition, when it was suggested that a Commission should be appointed to devise a scheme for eatablisbiifgj a miners' accident fund.
