[Special to Peess Association.] LONDON, Nov. 17. Fifty of the bodies of those lost in the wreck of H.M.S. Serpent have teen recovered. The Duke of Edinburgh is expected to preside at the Court-Martial to inquire into the loss of the ship. [Pbb Pukss Association.] WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. Mr Putnam, of the Public Works Department, and conductor of the Operatic Society, was thrown out of a buggy on Lambton Quay to-night, a steam roller frightening the horse. He sustained serious injury— concusaion of the brain — and was taken to the hospital unconscious. A horse trainer named Millar was thrown off a horse this evening, and was seriously hurt. An cloven-months-old child, daughter of W. Shilling, labourer, Timaru, died early on Sunday morning from the effects of immersion on Saturday in a tub of water, out of which she was takeu by her mother. After the accident two doctors were called in and gave hopes of her recovery; but she gradually sank, and died about sixteen, hours afterwards. An inquest was held yesterday, and a verdict of " Accidental death" returned by the juryIntelligence was received by Inspector Pender yesterday that a man named Patrick Martin died suddenly at Kirwee at 11 a.m. on the previous day. Con3table ifaddrell at once communicated with Mr Whitefoord, who proceeded there this morning to hold an inquest. Martin was an elderly man, who had resided in the district for a long period, and death is supposed to bave been caused by syncope.
