Canterbury Bowling Club. — The annual " social " of the Canterbury Bowliag Club was held at the Hereford Hotel yeaterday evening. There was a good attendance of members and their friends. Mjr^HarrjrToomer, who occupied the chair, apologised 1 for the absence cf the President, Mr Delbiidgfc, caused through, urgent business; Mr Toomer .shortly referred to the affairs of the Club, and the good prospects it had for sport during the coming, season. He stated that their green was in exceptionally good order for the time of year. Hi 3 remarks were received with applause. During the evening some excellent songs were .sung by Messrs Barker, Cronin, Eraser, Lightband and Wagsfcaff, .while the Christchurch Septette Band's instrumental music was heartily appreciated. ' The accompaniments to the songs werecreditably played by MrScUwabacher, and a couple of clever recitations, given by Messrs G. Hart and David Christie, filled up an enjoyable evening's amusement.
