Rangiora.

A largely-attended general meeting of the Bangiora Political Association was held at the Institute Hall ante-room, on Wednesday evening. Mr £. Wright, President, occupied the chair. The rules proposed by the Committee were submitted and adopted. The platform of the Association arranged at the previous meeting was again fully discussed, and each of the planks was adopted, with the exception of " Imposition of a duty on all wool exported in the grease." It was decided to print the rules and platform for circulation. A statement I having been published to the effect that I the writs would be issued about Sept. 29, it was decided that the President telegraph to the Government urging an extension of the time for at least a week or ten days, to permit of errors, if any, in the new roll to be issued on Sept. 26 being corrected in the supplementary roll. Messrs Smethurat, Packwood and Kobb, who were present as delegates from the Eaiapoi Labour Union, expressed their admiration of the manner in which the Association appeared to be working, and intimated their intention to endeavour to form an organisation of the kind at Kaiapoi. A vote of thanks for their attendance was carried with applause, and the meeting then terminated. During the evening several new members were proposed, and judging from the intelligent manner in which several of the questions of the day included in the platform were discussed, the Association will have considerable weight in the coming election. It is expected that the question of candidates will be discussed at the next meeting. ..
