The Work in Port.
The following appeared in this morning's Lyttelton Times .— TO THE EDITOR, Sir,— Mr Oaw states in your paper that my letter regarding the time free labour wsb taking to discharge my vessel was misleading. In reply I wish to point out that at the time my letter was written the vessel was being discharged at a rate which would have emptied her in about six or seven days. After that letter appeared, however, fresh hands were put on, and these discharged her at a fair rate, the result being that I got clear of my cargo in a reasonable time. I* now only reaffirm my previous statement that at the rate at which my vessel was being discharged on Friday and Saturday she would have taken a week or over to empty, a fact to which I drew not only my agent's, but the stationmaster'a, attention. — I am, &c, H. WILLIAMS.
