[Per Press Association,] DUNEDIN, June 24. The Fire Brigades Committee recommend the City Council to disband the present paid Brigade, and give the use of the plant to any volunteer organisation which may be formed. Mr Arthur Burns contests the laieri seat. The death is announced of Mr Henry Dench, one of the earliest settlers in Port Chalmers. Messrs Henry Benjamin and Samuel Jacobs, proprietors of the' London Discount Company, has filed a petition in bankruptcy. A separate petition has been filed by Mr Jacobs.
