RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Fortnightly Meeting. The fortnightly meeting of the above Council was hold on Friday evening; pre--sent—The Mayor and Councillors Blackett, Sansoin, Cone, Manning, Ivory, Luxton, Keir, and Jennings. An apology was made for the absence of Councillor Stephens. WOKK AND WAGES. A circular was received from the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council, enclosing" a resolution requesting Eoad Boards,. Borough Councils and other local bodies in accepting tenders to take into consideration whether the amount of the tender wilL allow of the i»ymeut by the tenderer of a fair rate of wages to the workmen. wObks committee's rkport. The Works Committee reported that since last meeting T. Richards had completed the contract for cleaning drains very satisfactorily, and they recommended that he be paid. J. Buckley had ploughed the sides of streets where required, and the soil had been carted away by persona requiring it. Tho Committee proposed to metal Victoria Btreet from High street" where wanted. They recommended that twenty or twenty-five loads of boulders be procured for J. Bishop to break. The report was adopted. A few unimportant matters were then settled, and the Council adjourned.
