TO THE EDITOR. Sia, — I £69 by Mr Clark's letter in your issue of last night's Star that the N.Z.E.C.A. purpose holding a meeting at Sydenham. I beg to remind thf Association that the business people of Sydenham, with very few exceptions, are residents in their respective places of business, and to clo^e thpir shops st 6 p.m. every evening (Saturdays included) will be a great inconvenience. I ttvut that the shopkeepers and residents of this district will take their stand to resent and to deFy such threatened intimidation and interference with the rights and liberties of British subjects. I would aleo suggest that the proper authorities appoint one or two representatives of the law to be on the spot should occasion require it, so that the ruffianism perpetrated in the town last Saturday night may not be repeated with impunity. Mr R. Clark suggests that all opponents to the early-closing movement should bo boycotted. No doubt the business people of Sydenham will be fully prepared for such ; but we hope no larrikinisin. — I am, &c, T. V. PYNE, Sydenham. I -
