Taa Exggßas.— The express train for Danedin tins morning consisted of fonr ■Moon, and three second-class carriages. •Amongat the passengers were several gentlemen -who take an interest in sporting meters, inolnding "Messrs G. H. Clifford (who was accompanied by his brother latelyarrived from England), D. Butherford, S. Garforth, and GJ?. WUliams. The train ■was well filled with passengers, most of whom it may be presumed were on their way to the Exhibition. St Andbbw'b Choib.— Last evening this choir met for the purpose of presenting Miss Freeman, who kindly acted as pianist at the cantatas "Both" and "David," when rendered by the choir, with a handsome album, in recognition of her services. Mr Adley, the Choir master, made the presentation, thanking Miss Freeman for the amonnt of trouble she had taken in connection with the above cantatas, Mr Freeman acknowledging on behalf of his sister. Several songs were rendered during the evening, and dancing was indulged in till a late honr. Cost Inbtitutb..— A meeting of the Institute Committee took place on Monday evening; present— the Bey D. D.Bodger (in the chair), and Messrs Searell, White, Tipping, Cooper, and Hassal. A letter was received from Mr Thomas Cottle, covering subscription to the hall, and tendering his resignation as a member of the Committee, consequent upon his early removal, from the district. The resignation wad accepted with regret, and a hearty vote of thanks accorded to Mr Cottle, for .hiß services in the interests of the Institute. Intimation was given that. Mr Page had completed his contract to the satisfaction of the Building Committee, who had passed the work. It was resolved that the contractor should be paid the amount of cash in hand. MrM. J. Dixon was elected a member of the Committee, in lieu of Mr Cottle. Beport was made that tiie proposed entertainment in aid of the funds would come off about Dec 16. Ctceing.— The usual weekly meeting of fhe Committee of the Pioneer Club was held last evening to farther arrangements for the intercolonial race meeting. The Secretary stated that all matters were well forward. Messrs Parker, Denby, and Langdown were appointed a Beception Committee to meet the Australian and interprovincial riders, and arrange for their accommodation. The question of subdividing the programme into each day was considered and arranged. It was decided to hove the amended programme printed, and to enclose copies, together with entry forms, in the next issue of tiie Wheelmen's Gazette. The Secretary was requested to communicate with the Maoris of Woodend re the Maori Bace. One of the members stated that the Lancaster Park authorities had promised to maintain the racing track in good order, on condition that no training is allowed on Saturdays, 60 as to enable the track to become firm. It was decided to communicate with the other Clubs re organising a monster evening run early in December, and the Secretary and Captain were deputed to make the necessary arrangements. A large amount of other business of a routine nature was disposed -of, and the meeting adjourned.
