[nOU OXTB OWS COBBISPONDBOT.] XTDBTTKUI BABBIT BOABD. The monthly meeting of the Hurnnui Babbit Board was held in the office, Culverden, on Saturday, Sept. 7 ; president — Messrs G. W. M'Eae (Chairman), G. D. Greenwood, W. M'Farlane, J. Little and W. O. Rutherford. Mr Greenwood gave a report of his inspection of the fence from the sea to Dog creek, from which it was evident that some of the. caretakers are rery lax in the performance of their duties. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Greenwood for his report. The Inspector, in his report for the last month, stated that there are no rabbits inside the fence above St James, bat that there are a great many on Mr Low's country on the outside of the fence. Decided that the Board wffl supply the two gates applied for by Mr T. W. Bobinson, if he will erect them, and keep them locked; also, that he be asked to grant the Board a lease of three or four acres of land round the hut, nearthe month ottheWaiaa. tBX QDOTILIiOWB' SOCIAL. ' took, flape at Waikari on the evening of Sept 6. The Chan-man, the Bev James H'XaUar, delivered an address, entitled "Providing for a Bainy Day," in which he-emphafacally impressed on his hearers the advisability of providing for the "rainy day" of accident or sickness, by becoming members of the Waikari Lodge. The concert programme which followed the address was unfortunately very much curtailed in consequence of an epidemic of "indisposition" which had suddenly and uuwt unaccountably seized nearly all those who had promised to assist.
