Christchurch Rifle Club.

ANNUAL MEETING. | The annual general meeting of the above Club waß held last evening at the Prince of Wales' Hotel. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, showing that the Club has assets to the value of .£2O, and no outstanding liabilities. It was resolved to abolish, the entrance fee and change the head-quarters of the Club to Hobba' Buildings, where the use of a suitable room. had been offered- by the Christchurch Pigeon FJying Club. The feeling of the meeting was tested as to the advieability of adopting the MartiniHenry as the recognised arm of the Club, and after some discussion, the matter was handed over to the new Committee for further consideration. The opening day for the new season was, a3 is üßual, fixed tor the first Saturday in October. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to donors of prizes and the retiring officers, especially Mr J. Bashford, who found it necessary, through pressure of business to resign the captaincy. The following gentlemen were elected officers of the Club : — Patron, Mr Joseph Gould ; President, Mr John Holmes ; VicePresidents, Messrs W. P. Reeves, F. Jones, John Joyce, A. Loughrey, W. B. Perceval, M.H.E.'s, Kobert Allan, W. D. Meares, S. Manning, W. Eeeee, D. JReese, A. Ayers, C. Louisson, P. Cunningham, C. C. Bowen, Lieut.-Colonel Tosswill and the Hon J. T. Peacock ; Captain, Mr F. W. Sandfor'd ; Sub-Captain, Mr J. Costley ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. B. Hackworth; Committee, Messrs Bashf ord, Fox, Drake, T. H. Anderson, C. G. Foster, S. W. Lester and E. W. W. Eichardson ; Auditors, Messrs C. Allison and E. li. Anderson. Before leaving the chair, Captain Basbford, amidst prolonged cheering, presented Mr John Fox with the championship cross.
