The Grain Bag Question.

[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 22. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, held to consider whether the buyer or Beller should pay for bags in which grain is sold, the resolution passed by the Chamber in 1885 was confirmed. This resolution is — "That bags containing produce should not be paid for, but be wtighed iu and paid for at the same rate as the contents." The Chairman, Captain Colbeck, stated that the Opotiki farmers were opposed to tbia, as from 20,000 to 30,000 Eacks of produce left Opotiki every year, and calculating the lo?s at 6d per tack, the sum of .£SOO to JE6CO per annum represented a loss most ruinous to the farmers, and most keenly felt.
