Round Biccarton.

For the last two days the rainfall has caused a great deal of storm-water to lodge round the Eiccarton district, a great part part of which is under water. The drains are not sufficiently large to carry away the great rush of water, and the consequence is that they overflow, and for about four hundred yards up the South road, the footpath and half the road are under water. Mr J. Deanß* two paddocks, just across the railway, are one sheet of water, which has no possible means of getting away, as the .large drains that run down each side of the fence, have overflowed, and are running across the road. The racecourse looks just as if it had a water.race made all round the gallop. The road that runs up from the coach corner and round to Sockburn railway station is covered with one sheet of water, and is almost impassable.
