Linwood Town Board.

, <*, An ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Monday, at 7.30 p.m.; present— Messrs W. Smith, Bargh, and Toouier (Chairman). Mr E. F. Dombrain, the newly elected member, also took his seat. An apology was received from Mr J. C. Atkinson, who was unable to attend through an accident. Correspondence was read:— From Mrs Dunlop, notifying the sale of her property, and asking to have her name 'struck off the rate book. To bo informed that the application was made too late. From the Salwyn County Council, forwarding copy of special order, making a rate of two-fifteenths of a penny in tbe .£ for hospital and charitable aid purposes. Received. From Drainage Board, asking if this Board will collect their rate _ in future free of co3t. Received, and to be , hold over for future consideration. From j Christchurch City Council stating that the question of .allowing the chemical engine to attend fires in Linwood is being considered, and a further reply will be sent. The Finance Committee reported :— The books and accounts for April have been examined and found correct. The Coini mittee recommends that the balance of last ! year's subsidy be applied for. Receipts i since last meeting 9j lid; debit j balance at Bank, JE7O 17a 4d. Sundry accounts are presented for payment herewith. The report was adopted. Resolved — " That Mr E. F. Dombrain be appointed to the Works and Sanitary Committees, in place of Mr John Jamieson." The Clerk was ! directed to obtain fifty yards of Kaiapoi grit, extra, the contract. Local Board o£ Health. — The Inspector's report was read and approved, and the meeting terminated
