ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

CHARGE OF FORGERY. DUNEDIN, Oct. 25. The annual meeting' of the Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland commenced this evening, when the Moderator (the Rev -James Davidson) delivered an address on, tha Christian ministry. ,4 labourer, named Hugh Anderson, who has heen staying at Outram for some time drinking, was fonnd in bed this morning with his throat rather severely out, having apparently attempted suicide. The cuts were inflicted with a pocket-knife. The wounds are not expected to prove Fatal. Thorna? Pepperill was committed for trial to-day for forging- a cheque. He had given a cheque for £7 to pay a debt of 30s, and .received _65 109 in change.
