TRAINING NOTES.

This Morning's "Work.

The temperature .at Riccarton this morning wa3 far from inviting, and occasional showers of rain did not add to the comfort of those whose duty necessitated their attendance on . the course. Hermitage, Sextant, and Rose and Black were the first stripped, and the two Cup horses, after cantering six furlongs, were taken along fast for a mile and a half. They both moved in good style, but Sextant appeared to limp a bit after the gallop, probably the result of having been without shoes for some days. Rose and Black wenb twice round the tan at a good striding race. Gipsy King and Master Guy were cantered and spurted the reverse way, with a view to Plumpton engagements. Galatea covered rather more than two miles at a smart canter. Nelßon and Lorraine were stripped and sent twice round at a strong puce. Nelson had walked rather better th 3.11 usual, and Btrode along in good style, but the colt seemed able to hold his own, and both finished well. Torrent and Fair Nell were taken twice round at nearly top. Torrent showed temper at starting, and the filly was always going tbe better of the two. Sultan did long slow work, and Teredo, who walked very stiff behind, was cantered. Cruchfield

put in a couple of rounds alone, and Leon was Bweated. Bronte and Engagement, the filly with sweaters on, cantered four miles, and came home fast. Artillery and Tit Bit accomplished two rounds in company, when the gelding was pulled off, and Artillery made another circuit at a better pace. Artillery moves very freely, but has not yet put in a really good gallop. Repose finished a second round at threequarter pace, and jctavenscraig and Captain Wheeler covered two miles and a half in good style. Tyrant made three rounds, the last fast, and Adulation, who will make her clibut at Plumpton, was cantered a mile and a half the reverse way. The filly has furnished a lot during the winter, and looks every inch a racehorße. Orient and Patrician also went righthanded in.a _ ipe working gallop over three miles, and Wakatipu followed with a very similar task. Derwenter and Kimberiey went twice round the tan, finishing at nearly top, and both moving well. Kuby, the Wave colt, and Vault ress did easy work, and Kingask was cantered a couple of miles. Arcade was sent three rounds at a slow pace, and Meteor, Presto, Tornado, Eed Ensign, Chance, Archduke, Turtellus, and others did ordinary work.
