Meeting in Christchurch.

A meeting of members of the Association to consider the programme for 188S drawn up by Captain Sommerville and the Council, was held in the Orderlyroom of the Mounted Rifles. Amongst those present were Messrs Bashford, Buckley, King, Lean, and Anderson. Mr Meddings was in the chair, and read the programme. Mr Anderson moved — "That the first range .of the second stage should be altered from 700 yds, 800 yds, and 900 yds to 600 yds, 700 yds, and 800 yds," but no one seconding it the matter dropped. Mr Warner thought that the first stage of the match Bhould be fired with tfcd Snider, instead of the Remington-Lee rifle. It was stated that the latter rifle would ba distributed very shortly to those intending to take part in the match. Several thought that the Reminefon-Lee rifle ought not to be used exclusively in the match. No definite resolution, however, was moved in the matter. Mr Warner moved that the date of the Oamaru meeting should be altered from March to January or February. Mr Buckley seconded the motion, which was carried. The conditions of the match were next considered, and some alterations suggested, which, with the others mentioned, will be submitted to the members of the Council. A vote of thanka to the Chairman brought the meeting to a close.
