RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

Keen Interest Manifested.

[SrECIAL TO THE " STAR."]

DUNEDIN, August 27.

Much interest is being manifested by Volunteer ehootists in the discussion now going on amongst members of the New Zealand Rifle Association as to the kind of weapon to bo used at the next meeting at Oamaru. It is probable that Invercargill and Oamaru will favour the proposal made by some of our local Volunteers, for the retention of the Snider rifle. The Star hopes that sufficient pressure will be brought to bear on the authorities to prevent what is really a Colonial movement falling into the hands of a few interested individuals. The local shooting men meet to consider the matter this (Saturday) evening.
