ARREST.

&, man named George Henry Adams was charged at the Police Court to-day with presenting a valueless cheque for £40, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand. He had taken his passage by the Hawea for the South, and by the Kaikoura for London, under the name of Wallace, but waa arrested before leaving Auckland. The case was remanded.
The twenty-three pictures presented by Sir G. Grey to the Art Gallery have arrived from JCawau. The list inoludes "The Holy Family," by Baffaelle, "The Holy Family," by Sir Joshua Reynolds, and works by Muiillo, Wilkie, and others.
Ab a result of the recent meetings of wholesale houses in Auckland, in reference to the regulation of trading, a uniform system of disoount and terms of credit has been arranged. This arrangement will come into force this week.
