A COSTLY CASE. AUCKLAND, July 25. Sir Robert Stout arrived to-day by the Mararoa, and will address a public meeting to-night. The attention of the Supreme Court was taken up during the whole of last week witb. the case of Arkill v. the City Council of Auckland. The former sued the defendants for .£IOOO, alleged damage to property through the filling in works. The plaintiff has been nonsuited, with costs on the highest scale. It Is estimated that the plaintiff's costs will amount to at least .£SOO, counsel receiving 15 guineas per day, whilst the special jury's costs tot up to 72 guineas.
