The Jubilee at Invercargill.

[Per Pbesb Association.]}

INVERCARGILL, June 23. The Jubilee celebrations, for which splendid weather has been experienced, closed yesterday, when the Mayor (Mr Alfred Tapper) entertained all school children between the ages of six and nine years- at tea in the Garrisson Hall. It proved an immense success, fully 800 little ones sitting down at seven long tables, which were well stocked with good things. A large number of ladies and gentlemen waited on the children, whose delight was unbounded. At intervals the band played, and songs were sung. An entertainment was subsequently given, to which children up to 14 years of age were admitted. This was attended by 1600. On leaving, the youngsters were presented with Jubilee medals. The affair is unanimously declared to have been the best and most happily conceived and executed of all the local celebrations.
