The alterations in Ridings made by the Selwyn County Council are duly gazetted under date June 16.

A money order and savings bank office has been opened in connection with the Bealey Post-office.

The Jubilee holiday at Papanui is to be held to-morrow. The attractions include the usual sports, and the roasting of a fat bullock.

The Working Men's Club Combination and Variety Troupe will give an entertainment at 8 o'clock to-morrow night, in their hall.

The latest New Ziealand applications for patents include the following: — F. B. Britton, baker, and E. C. Belgrave, jun., blacksmith, of Christchurch, for a combined ash-pan and riddle.

A tea and public meeting, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the extinction of the debt on the Sydenham Baptist Church, are advertised to be held in that church to-morrow evening, when the various Baptißt ministers of Canterbury will tajce part. * Sir Bobert Stout, accompanied by his Private Secretary, arrived at Lyttelton by the Botomahana at 11 o'clock this morning, and came on to Christchurch by the ordinary 11.20 train. Majors Gudgeon and Campbell also arrived by the same steamer. Sir Eobert stayed till the 2.40 p.m. train left for Lyttelton. He goes on to Dunedin by the Eotomahana.

The St John Ambulance Association's fancy dress ball takes place to-night in the Tuam. street hall. In the Durham street Wesleyan schoolroom there willbe a "free Jubilee tea" at 6 o'clock. At the Oddfellows' hall, at 8 o'clock, the " Life of the Qvuen " will be illustrated by a special series of dissolving views, including a hundred fine pictures, shown by Mr T. Crooks.

We have been requested to remind our readers of the auction sales to be held by Messrs Eosb and Co., at their Auction Eooms to-morrow. The sales include a number of cabinetmaker's benches, material, &c, in the estate of W. S. Lamb ; a large quantity of assorted groceries and general stock in the estate of H. C. Vogel, which are being sold by order of the Official Assignee, and a consignment of assorted potteryware will be sold on account of whom it may concern.
